Ladka Bhau Yojana launched
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has launched the 'Lada Bhau' scheme, a new initiative to provide job training and stipend to young men.
The scheme follows the launch of the 'Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana' for women and is part of the broader 'Mukhya Mantri Yuva Karya - Prashikshan Yojana'.
Announcement and objectives of the scheme
The 'Lada Bhau' scheme, announced on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi in Pandharpur in Solapur district, aims to address the problem of unemployment by providing on-the-job training along with a monthly stipend to eligible candidates.
The scheme has been launched ahead of the state assembly elections scheduled later this year.
Financial Aid and Practical Training
The primary goal of the 'Lada Bhau' scheme is to provide financial assistance and practical work experience to youth who have completed their class 12 education.
Educational Eligibility for Monthly Stipend Structure
- Rs 6,000 for graduates of class 12, Rs 8,000 for holders of diplomas, and Rs 10,000 for holders of bachelor's degrees.
- The scheme aims to provide benefits to 10 lakh youth by providing apprenticeships funded by the state government.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for 'Lada Bhau' Scheme
-The ideal age range for the candidate is 18 to 35 years old.
- He should have a minimum educational qualification of class 12, ITI, diploma or degree.
- He must be a resident of Maharashtra with Aadhaar registration and linked bank account.
- Students currently enrolled in educational programs should not be eligible.
- In addition, applicants must register on the Commissionerate of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation website in order to receive an employment registration number.
Implementation and Industry Participation
Through the use of a specialized website, the program seeks to link job seekers and companies, enable real-world work experience, and supply sectors with skilled labor.
The institutions participating under the scheme must fulfill the following conditions
- The institution must be located within Maharashtra.
- Must be registered as an employer on the relevant web portal.
It ought to run for a minimum of three years.
- Must have necessary registrations including RPF, ESIC, GST, DPIT and Udyog Aadhaar.
Criticism and Political Reactions
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray has criticized the 'Ladka Bhau' scheme, calling it a 'jumla' and questioned the government's intention.
Thackeray has demanded that the entire annual amount of the scheme be disbursed in one go and criticized the initiative for providing stipends only to skill development students, raising doubts over its effectiveness.
