Agricultural carbon market
Published On:
•In the agricultural carbon market, farmers can get carbon loans by accepting stable methods to reduce greenhouse gases and soil carbon isolation.
•Farmers can sell these carbon credits to companies trying to compensate for emissions and add their income sources while promoting friendly climate agricultural practices.
•Some of the key practices include no-till agriculture, cover crops and better livestock management, for which validation is required to ensure that carbon reductions are real and measurable.
National Investigation Agency
•The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is India's premier counter-terrorism law enforcement agency established in 2009 after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
• It has jurisdiction throughout India to investigate terrorism, organised crime, human trafficking, counterfeit currency and other threats to national security without requiring permission from the state governments.
•The agency has special courts for faster trials and is empowered to investigate cases overseas through mutual legal assistance treaties and diplomatic channels.
UNCCD (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification):
• It is the UNCCD international treaty adopted in 1994 with the aim of halting and combating the desertification and degradation of the soil, especially in areas experiencing arid, semi-arid or dry sub-humid zones and/or drought.
• It is the only legally binding international agreement that links environment and development with sustainable land management and focuses specifically on improving the livelihoods of people in drylands.
•The Convention promotes sustainable land management and works to mitigate climate change by helping countries restore degraded lands, improve soil health, and enhance food and water security.
