•Observed annually on March 3rd, World Wildlife Day celebrates and raises awareness about the world's wild fauna and flora, commemorating the day the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) was signed in 1973.

•The United Nations General Assembly established this day to promote global biodiversity conservation, highlighting the importance of protecting endangered species and their habitats.

•Each year, the day focuses on a specific theme related to wildlife conservation, aimed at educating the public and encouraging action to protect threatened plant and animal species worldwide.

UNCCD (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification):

• The UNCCD is an international treaty established in 1994 to address land degradation, desertification, and drought, particularly in affected countries with arid, semi-arid, and dry sub-humid areas.

•It is the only legally binding international agreement that links environment and development to sustainable land management, focusing on improving living conditions for people in drylands.

•The convention promotes sustainable land management and works to mitigate the effects of climate change by helping countries restore degraded land, improve soil health, and enhance food and water security.

INS Arighaat:

• INS Arighaat is an Indian Naval Ship, specifically an indigenously built corvette designed and constructed in India as part of the country's naval modernization efforts.

• It belongs to the Khukri-class of corvettes, which are small, maneuverable warships used for coastal defense and maritime patrol operations in the Indian Navy.

• The vessel is equipped with advanced weaponry and sensor systems, contributing to India's maritime defense capabilities in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean region.
