Bilateral talks between India and Vietnam to make strategic partnership more active

Prime Minister 'Narendra Modi' and Vietnamese Prime Minister 'Pham Minh Chinh' discussed in New Delhi, which concluded with the virtual inauguration of the Army Software Park at the University of Telecommunications in Nha Trang, Vietnam. This project has received financial assistance of 5 million dollars from India.

 

Principal Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding

In addition, Prasar Bharati and Voice of Vietnam have exchanged a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in radio and television and agreements regarding a line of credit and the restoration of the Maison UNESCO World Heritage Site in Vietnam.

 

Strengthen strategic partnership

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significant growth in India-Vietnam relations, highlighting an 85% increase in bilateral trade.

They have emphasized spiritual ties through shared Buddhist heritage and invited Vietnamese citizens to visit the Buddhist circuit of India. Modi has also encouraged Vietnamese youth to take advantage of Nalanda University.

 

Future framework and cooperation

The leaders have discussed increasing defense and security cooperation, including a $300 million credit line to strengthen Vietnam's maritime security.

He also agreed to review the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement to focus on countering terrorism and improving cyber security and to enhance mutual trade capacity.

 

Diplomatic engagement

Prime Minister Chin was formally welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. During his 3-day state visit, China will also meet President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, along with a high-level delegation of ministers and business leaders.

 

Historical relationship and strategic importance

During Modi's visit to Vietnam in 2016, India and Vietnam's historical and cultural ties were transformed into a comprehensive strategic partnership. Vietnam is a key pillar of India's Act East policy and an important partner in its Indo-Pacific vision.
