• Location:  The park is situated near Jamtha on National Highway-44, which connects Nagpur and Hyderabad in Maharashtra.

 BBNJ Agreement (Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ)

 • Protecting Marine Biodiversity: The agreement focuses on safeguarding marine ecosystems and ensuring the sustainable use of marine resources through international cooperation.

 • Preventing Resource Monopoly: No country can claim exclusive rights to the resources (such as oil, gas, minerals, fish, etc.) found in the high seas. Environmental Impact

 •Assessment: The agreement sets rules for assessing environmental impacts to minimize negative effects on the marine environment.

 • Area-Based Management Tools: It provides mechanisms to manage marine resources at the regional level effectively.

 Territorial economic zone

• Territorial Waters: This area extends up to 12 nautical miles from a country’s coastline, where the coastal nation has the authority to enforce laws and manage resources.

• Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ): This zone extends up to 200 nautical miles from the coast, within which a country has the right to exploit marine resources in the water, on the seabed, and beneath the seabed.

•High Seas: These areas lie beyond any country’s EEZ and territorial waters. The BBNJ Agreement establishes rights and duties for countries in these regions to ensure the fair and safe use of resources while avoiding conflicts.
